|Scientific Programme / Congress Schedule|
The scientific programme for the 3rd EuCheMS Chemistry Congress has been designed to provide a broad overview of seven hot topics in chemistry as well as to create specialists forums to present and debate cutting edge chemistry in the various sub-disciplines. Every hot topic is introduced by a plenary lecture and will host three or four main symposia, with special symposia as supplements. Please follow the links on this page for plenary lecturerers, the invited lecturers of the symposia and the titles of their talks.
Plenary Lectures at the opening ceremony on Sunday will be given by Barbara Imperiali and Klaus Müllen, introducing the topics "Molecular Life Sciences" and "Innovative Materials", respectively. Barbara Imperiali is the Class of 1922 Professor of Chemistry and Professor of Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, USA, and will talk about "Fluorescent Tools for Chemical Biology". Klaus Müllen is director at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz, Germany. He will talk about "Macromolecules, Assemblies, Particles - A Discovery Journey in Materials Synthesis"
On Monday morning, Plenary Lecturer Michael Grätzel, Professor at the Ecole Polytechnique de Lausanne, Switzerland, and Director of the Laboratory of Photonics and Interfaces, will introduce the topic "Resources and Environment" in his talk "Molecular Photovoltaics and Mesoscopic Solar Cells"
On Tuesday morning, Plenary Lecturer E. W. "Bert" Meijer, Distinguished University Professor in the Molecular Sciences and Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands, will introduce the topic "Supramolecular Chemistry" in his talk "Non-covalent Synthesis of Complex Supramolecular Systems"
On Tuesday afternoon, Plenary Lecturer Hans-Joachim Freund, Director of the Department of Chemical Physics at the Fritz-Haber-Institut der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft in Berlin, Germany, will introduce the topic "Catalysis" in his talk "Model Catalyst Design: A Perspective at the Atomic Level Department of Chemical Physics"
On Wednesday morning, Plenary Lecturer Lechosław Latos-Grażyński, Head of the Organic Chemistry Division at the Department of Chemistry, University of Wrocław, Poland, will introduce the topic " Advances in Organic and Inorganic Chemistry" in his talk "Aromaticity Switching in Porphyrinoids and Heteroporphyrinoids "
On Thursday morning, Plenary Lecturer Joshua Jortner, Emeritus Professor of Chemistry, Tel Aviv University, Israel, will introduce the topic "Analysis, Manipulation and Simulation" in his talk "Chemical Dynamics at Extremes. Table - top Nuclear Fusion Driven by Cluster Coulomb Expolsion"
