Poster Presentations to Show Technological Milestones in Chemistry

The 32 poster presentations will promote the public’s perception of chemistry, in particular, by showing how chemistry is relevant to society.

When he was president of the American Chemical Society, in 2001 Professor Attila Pavlath designed the exhibit which mostly displayed the work of American scientists. A new version, reflecting fields of interest in Europe and devised by the German Chemical Society, will be introduced during the EuCheMS Chemistry Congress in Nürnberg in the entrance hall.

Monday, 30.08.2010, 14.00 hrs, Professor Attila Pavlath, former President of ACS, presents „Technology Milestones“ on 32 posters which he has developed some years ago and which are recently revised by order of GDCh. You are invited to come to the entrance area to have a look at the informative posters and listen to the comments of Attila Pavlath.
   

MV Science 2010 - the Energy Ship in Nürnberg

The exhibition ship “Science in Dialogue” is underway from May 18 until October 7, 2010. In the Year of Science 2010 – The Future of Energy, the rebuilt freighter welcomes all to come aboard for a visit to “Planet Energy”. Come aboard to see and experience how our future energy supply could look like – which resources are available, how we can save energy, efficiently distribute it and intelligently manage energy consumption. The various exhibits are sponsored by
institutes of the Fraunhofer Society, the Helmholtz Society, the Leibnitz Association, the Max Planck Society as well as by DFG-promoted projects and university institutes.
The energy ship is visiting 34 cites including Nürnberg where it will ‘dock’ at Eibach/Hafenstr. (bus stop: Rotterdamer Str., Bus 67) towards the end of the EuCheMS Chemistry Congress on September 1. There it will stay until September 5 when it continues its journey on to Vienna.
Everyone of all ages is invited to come and visit! The exhibition is open daily from 10.00 a.m. until 7 p.m. Online registration is required for groups (www.ms-wissenschaft.de).

 

 
 

Fraunhofer Truck

In 2010, the exhibition truck is again underway across Germany. The truck will stop at many Fraunhofer institutes, universities and market places, allowing everyone a glimpse into the future. On the occasion of the EuCheMS Chemistry Congress, it will be in downtown Nürnberg (Jakobsplatz) from August 29 until September 2, 2010 to show visitors concrete applications that might soon become rooted in our everyday lives. The selected exhibits this year will introduce innovations in the areas of health, environment, energy, safety, communication and mobility.

Take a trip and discover! Slip into the role of a doctor and examine a model of the human body with a minicamera that can be swallowed. Discover how a future city can be supplied in an environmental friendly way or find out how you can recharge your mobile phone with your body heat. Much more awaits you in the Fraunhofer Truck. From the field of chemistry, the following exhibits are especially notable: silica gel fleece for wound dressings, organic solar
cells, desalination of seawater and brackish water, artificial livers as well as ‘smart’ materials.
